Acupuncture Acupuncture is a method of maintaining your health through balancing the flow of the brain's energy through the 12 major organ meridians in the body. The human body is on a 24 hour cycle. This cycle is set by the amount of sunlight that the pineal gland is exposed to.  We use a machine which measures the amount of electrical current flowing through a particular acupuncture meridian and compare the left and right sides of the body. These measurements are taken on the meridians of each major organ.  This allows Dr. McCarty to see which organs are not getting their share of your body's energy. He then can stimulate the proper points required to get more energy to the heart or lungs, etc. He usually does this through gentle electrical stimulation of the point for about 15 seconds although acupuncture needles can be used if the patient requests it.
