I heard of your treatment through Todd and Jennifer Pedretti. Through your treatment, Jenn was able to get off all meds for Lupus over 3 years ago. 

A few months back, my dentist told me that I had TMJ and wanted me to wear a mouth guard. My beliefs are in fixing problems not treating them so I decided to look you up to see if you could find and fix what was causing my TMJ. I figured that I might as well get all myself realigned. Jaw pain started in May of 2003. Got really bad in fall of 2003. Locked down, headaches every day until July of 2004. Fitted for splint. Pain went away, unlocked to a certain degree. February 2005 pain returned and headaches more severe.

Orthodontist suggested jaw surgery and braces. Seemed like correct path since I was in so much pain. Examined options and arrived in Denver June 20, 2005 from Alaska. Two appointments/day for 4 days. After first series less pain and less headaches.

This has only been my first week of Central Nervous System Restoration treatment but I have already felt a change in my symptoms. 

I have had internal physical problems that started at age 11, doctors could not explain them and I went on with my life until this point. At the age of twenty three, I started having a number of physical problems which included the feeling of a stuffy nose during a cold, headaches, mood swings, and menstrual problems. Blood work was done for numerous things including pituitary tumors. My doctor found nothing and told me that it could be stress, which I felt that it wasn't, due to the fact that my life was going much better than it had since the day I was born.

About a year ago I started having problems with dizziness. I was diagnosed with viral vertigo and sent home. The symptoms never went away and I did everything in my power to find out what was wrong. To Whom It May Concern:

Until the age of 41 I had routinely, consistently, and very frequently visited the dentist. From very early on, probably since the age of 4 when started kindergarten, I had visited the dentist. By the time I had graduated from high school, I had had a twelve year molar extracted on the upper left, the second pre-molar and the second molars extracted on lower left, a permanent bridge made over first pre-molar and first molar, which then was removed, because the first molar decayed …and then extracted. Lower right second molar was extracted, and first molar treated with root canal treatment. Later this root canal was re-treated, and it was discovered then, that an instrument had broken and have been left in it, and the re-treatment was also unsuccessful in taking out the remaining instrument, because of the curvature in the root.

Photographs between taken between the ages of 18-41 clearly show continous and devastating wear on the front teeth, but all my teeth were equally wearing unstoppably, it is just that the molars can not be seen on photographs.

By the age of 41 I was the unhappy recipient of 8 root canals, and one lateral incisor completely broke off. By that time all my wisdom teeth were also extracted, because as I was told “you won’t need those teeth back there”.

Really, why indeed do we have teeth? So, when yet another root-canal treated (this time on upper right) molar broke in fact and could not be saved, I set out to find answers as to why my once beautiful teeth were constantly breaking, chipping, wearing, had to be root canalled, and what can be done to remedy the situation. I wanted to save my teeth, already had no biting surface on left side, now I was loosing teeth on the right side, … thought myself too young to be living on tapioca pudding and ensure.

Diagnosis: TMD

Doctor told me approximately 2 years to correct, and $20,000.

Six years later, and loosing two more molars (upper right, you guessed it) I had set out to find someone who could really help with TMD.

During the next 4 years I had spent close to $100,000 resulting in all my teeth being prepared for permanent crowns, yet still no neuromuscular correct bite position, or any kind of comfortable bite position at all!

Dr. Shirley Cheong in Toronto accepted me as a patient providing I would come to the first appointment with half her fees, which was $25,000. It would take 3-4 months for the treatments, I was told, and the upper teeth would be completed first, and require the other $25,000 before the lower teeth would be done. I agreed, made arrangements to move 1800 kilometers away from home for 3-4 months, and as soon as I saw the wax-up, which is to say the second appointment, I knew something was desperately wrong. My front teeth always lined up vertically, however much damage there was otherwise, but this doctor was prepared to make crowns for my teeth, with the lower jaw being in a swing over sideways position! I had asked her what had happened, because as I stated my teeth were never misaligned like that! She said she didn’t know, something had moved. And that reminded me of the conversation I had had some months earlier with Dr. McCarty over the phone, after I had read the information available on his website. What little I was able to understand about the treatments certainly made sense to me, and had intended to see him, but the time constrains, the distance, and last but not least, finances have clouded my judgment to do what I needed to do.

As soon as I had returned to my lodging, from Dr. Shirley’s office that afternoon, I had telephoned Dr.McCarty to ask if he could see me.

He not only answered the phone himself, he gave me a new patient appointment for as soon as I can get there…as I would be driving from Toronto to Denver.

I am so pleased with the results, that words can actually not express it.

The best thing I have done in my life, other than to give birth to my son!

I have had meningitis, TB (these were nososomatic illnesses), and all the usual childhood diseases, severe trauma to the head, and a lot of stress and trauma as a child. Hello, 

I wanted to give you a happy little update and another big thank you.  As of this past weekend, I can run again!  Only a very short distance before I'm out of breath, but it didn't make my back hurt, and as for my headache, it just made my ear ring louder.  I've been having more NAET done by an acupuncturist who is closer to home (I know, I'm spoiled compared to your other patients!), and it turned out that I had a lot of allergies that were 'unmasked' sometime after we completed those that had shown up initially for me.  I wanted to do this closer to home so I could go back in if I started having my usual reaction to the treatment itself, and I bought the NAET book and learned the self-acupressure to temporarily treat the allergies.  And once we got through another 3-5 of food items, suddenly I could feel the allergies to things around me, in a really pronounced way... and it turns out that other than what you cleared me on, I'm allergic to basically everything around me - all fabrics, wool, leather, plastics, elastic, paper, metal jewelry... even my cold packs!   Wool, didn't even have to be touching it, and it made my hands go pins and needles.  Can't wait to see how strong my immune system is, once I clear the rest of these things.  :)

So now, I start getting headache whenever I touch any of those things, and if I can avoid them and treat for cotton, then I don't have a headache but just major congestion, and itchiness all over, even with Claritin.

As I had promised, I wanted to keep you up to date on my progress.  My head pressure which was at a 8 when I came to you and is now down to a 4 which is significant.  This is the 50% reduction you said you would shoot for after the first series.  You hit the nail in the head with your prediction.  My clarity level is improving each day – as you said it would. 

My lower back where I had surgery hurt a great deal the final day and is still really stiff today.  I think this will get better soon.  We must have strained it or stretched the scar  tissue somewhat.  I feel ok standing – it’s when I bend that it hurts.  This is something I am used to because of back surgery though.  I’m sure it will fix itself soon. 

I’m very happy with the results thus far.  I’ll get you updated.

 I have had headaches since I was a little girl. My jaw has always given me trouble and I found out that I had TMJ when I was about 12 years old. My mom and I have tried everything to find someone to cure my headaches, shooting pains, TMJ, and back pain. I have had many doctors for separate problems. Although these doctors would cure one problem, another one would occur. I would be in constant circles. I have had everything you can think of, from splints to orthodontics to heal lifts. It has been two months now since we have seen you and Alexis is still holding. At least she has all the signs of holding. Still no migraine headaches and her sleep continues to improve... very slowly... and it "roller coasters", but probably that's all part of the healing process. The day and night rhythm is s-l-o-w-l-y coming back. I'm hoping the longer days of Spring with more sunshine will help her body to return to normal rhythm. My first treatment went very well. After the first Central Nervous System Restoration balloon treatment, I experienced crackling up inside my head, my vision sharpened, and my eye glass prescription seemed to much more comfortable. I experienced a release of tension in my face and felt euphoric. The remaining two treatments were not as dramatic with very little discernable change from my perspective. Wanted to let you know that there has been a pretty dramatic reduction of facial tension and tenderness in jaw and temple areas and daily headaches are mostly gone. Very happy about that and encouraged that I'm only a third of the way through Central Nervous System Restoration treatment and feel this much better. It really wasn't until the last day of treatment that I noticed improvement.

I've had some difficulties in the mental/emotional arena as I'm adjusting. Fortunately, I had read that was fairly typical on your site and trust that time will balance things out. Sleep without sedation has been a challenge and thoughts have been racing. There were, admittedly some stressful events that I came home to so it's not just post Central Nervous System Restoration phenomena.

Also I feel that a tight band that was causing headaches was removed from my head but the 'open' feeling that I have is actually really disconcerting and I've been wanting to wear a hat to sort of hold my head together. Very odd feeling that's hard to describe.

Jaw clicking periodically stops and, at one point, briefly stopped on the right but moved to the left side and then back. So things seem to be moving around and adjusting.

By the time I came to Dr. McCarty, I was having headaches at least 4-5 times per week. At least one of those would be what I call a roll-over headache, where you go to sleep with it and wake up the next day it. These are the ones that would usually cause me to miss about 1/2 day of work a week. I was taking 8 Advil at a time with no relief & finally started self medicating with percocet & vicoden that was left over from other things in the medicine cabinet. That was the only way I could get relief...Knock myself out and wake up and try again.

 I have had headaches for as long as I can remember. They have been occurring more and more often the last couple of years. I was told that I had TMJ and had my dentist recommend a splint to wear every night. It helped for a few months. Then I noticed my top front teeth being loose and my bottom teeth crowding. I have been having migraines and other headaches for about 2 years before finding Dr. McCarty. I got a prescription for Imetrex that helped relieve them, but they kept coming back. Then for about 6 prior to seeing Dr. McCarty, I had been suffering from severe post nasal drip, and then sinus congestion, sinus type headaches and toward the end, what felt like ear congestion, ringing in my right ear and finally 2 bouts with vertigo. Most all of the symptoms were on the right side of my head. I had received two rounds of antibiotics from the family doctor to determine if it was sinus infections. Those medications didn't do anything. The doctor prescribed an MRI which was negative or normal, so the conclusion was that my symptoms were probably migraine related and all I could do is to take Imetrex.

So I got on line and looked up migraines, finding Dr. McCarty's site. I also looked up TMJ and found that symptoms could include vertigo, ringing in the ears, and a sensation of ear congestion. I came to Dr. McCarty, feeling all of my symptoms the first day there, and after the first series of Central Nervous System Restoration treatments, I had no more sinus pressure, ear congestion, vertigo, and ringing was better. The post nasal drip had improved tremendously. I still had a couple of headaches that following month, but they felt different. And all the other symptoms stayed away. Now I'm going though the second series and my head feels great. I don't know how to describe it better than I just feel normal, which feels wonderful.

I suffered for over a year with daily migraines. My worst migraines greeted me with the dawn's first light.

"I was hit by a car when I was 6 years old and had suffered head problems and battled severe depression my whole life. The hood ornament of the car went through the top of my head, peeling back my scalp. I was thrown several feet. If I had been a fraction of an inch taller it would have killed me.

My major physiological complaints were headaches, tinnitus, ear pressure, and TMJ. Those four created a downward spiral of numerous other bizarre symptoms that had driven me to every kind of doctor you can name. I had jaw surgery in 1987 at the age of 35 which was supposed to fix everything. It corrected 5% of my problems, the popping and clicking could be heard by everyone when I ate.     "Shortly after our five year old daughter, EmaLee, received her immunizations for school, she contracted viral encephalitis. She had a extreme headache and a fever of 102-105 degrees nearly every day for three months. For the next two years, EmaLee suffered from severe chronic daily headaches and vomiting. I hope you had a nice Easter weekend. I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know how I'm doing and remind you that I would like to "double up" for the week of  May 8th. If I remember correctly I had eight head positions associated with the palatine suture. I don't know if we would be treating any two of those with one balloon or what. But if you could check and let me know that would be helpful. I am a fairly diligent person and like to always know what's happening next.

Of all the things you told me about CNSR the one I most disbelieved was that I would have more energy after my first treatment. Yet, when I came back from Denver I was in the best mood I'd been in and had more energy than I had in three or four months, maybe more like in seven or eight months. I really couldn't believe how up I felt. I was singing in my car again, and while hanging out with friends they all said I seemed much more chipper. Even though my sleeping pattern was the same, and even though I woke up a bit out of breath the first few nights, I slept better than I had for about three months.

Then, on Tuesday night, I fell asleep on the couch without my cpap. I woke up a few hours later clenched and out of breath, and went to my bed and put my cpap on. The next day I woke up a little more tired than the previous days. And then, suddenly, late morning I just got frightened and emotional and worried about my teeth and my head and my life. (I have become aware through therapy that this must be associated with my feelings of abandonment and being left alone to wither and die. One of the best solutions for this is to not be so much by myself, so I am also looking for people who can help keep me company more of the time.) Thankfully I talked to my dad for a bit and he told me to try and think of it as a bump in the road and to remember to put on my cpap even though I'd rather not wear it. We talked again yesterday when I was feeling a bit better. Even he, who won't let hardly any doctors touch him and is uncomfortable talking about anything remotely medical, is convinced that NCR is a good thing for me.

All in all I feel better despite the apnea scare. Everyone in my family says I sound better when we talk on the phone. And there is another a difference I can feel: I can feel my nose (glabella) and some of the top of my head slowly release after waking up. I think this is a good sign, even though it feels strange. I don't feel any headachiness anymore, though sometimes the subtle shifting does ache a bit, and I am of course aware of my bite and cranial torsions and some of the places where I'm locked up.

I am very tempted to take out my retainers in hopes that my teeth will drift back. But I'm not yet able to allow myself to do that. And I'm not really sure they would drift back anyway, nor that that would be best for me. I guess I have two wishes. One is that I could be back where I was a year and nine months ago and instead of having gone to orthodontists I wish I had known about you and NCR first. The other is that I just wish I could be through everything that is to come and be better and more functional and breathing more easily and not on the cpap and not so scared of life and death anymore.

I have tried to talk on the phone with Dr. Smith, the whole body craniodontist, but have not been able to get hold of him. I want to let him know more about the time frame of NCR etc. It might make me feel better if the two of you could talk on the phone at some point. Would you be willing to do that if he is willing and if it would be beneficial for my process? I'm not sure that it would need to happen, but I am just trying to keep communications open and find the best road for me and any way of lightening my load would help.

Part of me, heck I think most of me is ready for the next treatment series. I kinda wish I didn't have to wait two more weeks for it. Anyway, I know this is long and you are probably at the end of a busy week. When you get a chance, please just let me know about 1) the treatments for the week of May 8th - how many for the palatine suture - and 2) about the possibility of talking with Dr. Smith.

LOW BACK 

Hello, Dr. Jim!

    You treated me more than a year ago but for only 1 session.  After only 1 session, you made me feel normal again, able to concentrate, and verbally communicate at a normal rate (without all those pauses and "uh...." in my sentences.) and free from the nagging back and neck pain. 

    In the previous years, I tried to get any doctor to even listen to my complaints.  You have no idea how hard I tried to explain to my regular doctors what I was feeling; one GP actually said that I might have a brain tumor "but we can address that after we get your diabetes under control".  I dropped him as my GP that same week.  Another doctor (one I actually respect) suggested that my loss of finding words could be a sign of Alzheimer’s.  I have had MRI's of my head, put on anti-depressants, suggested to see a psychiatrist.  All of which never helped me a small bit. 

    Then I met you.  After 4 days of CNS Restoration, I felt like a regular person.  My back pain was gone, I could turn my head 90 degrees in both directions, and the constant headache pain, head pressure, and ear ringing stopped. 

    Of course, the symptoms were gone, but the cause still existed, and I fell back into chronic pain and mental disorientation after only 2 weeks.   I felt quite a letdown.  I then began looking for a local chiropractor that might provide the same treatments.  I did find one individual that practiced the same "balloon" treatment and he was very good at that, but he was not as good a chiropractor as you are.  I paid him $750 for a week of treatments but I never felt any relief.  He tried very hard, usually spending 2 hours painfully manipulating my face, jaw, neck, back and leg muscles.  Another big letdown... 

    I went back to my GP, complained of ear fullness, ringing, and back pain.  I was sent to a physical therapist for my back and sent to an ENT for my ear pressure/ringing.    My lower back did improve.  My ears did not.  The ENT temporarily made a slit in one ear drum, after months of nasal spraying did nothing.  For the 4 or so days that my eardrum remained open, the pressure disappeared (but not the ringing--it actually got much worse) and I felt I could even hear without much concentration.  I talked about having tubes temporarily/permanently placed in my ears, but I wasn't so sure that that was the solution since the problem could re-appear after the tubes fell out.  Even if they stayed in, I would have to worry about possible infections or that even after the tubes came out that I might not heal up completely.  My ENT then suggested that I go to another ENT and I went to him. 

    The new ENT came to the same conclusion as the first; that I did not have any visible problems with my ears and that I was suffering from tinnitus.  But when I mentioned that I believed that I was suffering from TMJ, he agreed wholeheartedly.  He then referred me to an orthodontist that specialized in TMJ treatment.  He was out-of-network so I would have to pay the whole tab.  Guess what I did?  Yup, I went to him and he impressed me with both his knowledge and confidence that he could help me with a splint (he reminded me of how I felt about you).  So I forked over the $3700 (in installments) and I have been under his care for the last month and a half.  Since starting the treatment, most, if not all, of my jaw muscles feel normal and pain-free.  I plan on completing the 5 month treatment and will probably get braces for my teeth after that.  I know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. 

I also seeing a standard chiropractor and she has said that she contacted you regarding how you treated me so well in Colorado.  Feel free to pass along any details of my case to her (I believe her name is Corrine, and she works for Dr. Eberhard at the Compete Spine and Wellness Center in Newport Beach, CA.).  I told her that your techniques might not be so readily available, but worth the effort.  

    I am 99% sure that the reason I felt so much better was through you chiropractic techniques.  I am not so convinced that the balloon treatments helped me, but I could be wrong.   I have touted your chiropractic skill to each and every chiropractor and doctor that I have seen since I visited you (at least 10 doctors!). 

    Are you aware of anyone in California that get the same results as you do?  I am still quite desperate despite my progress.  I still get depressed about once a week, and spend much time lying down around the house, avoiding unnecessary social situations outside my family circle.   Any help would be appreciated!

7/16/04 - 1st rolfing session

7/21/04 - pool therapy - without walker with weights on legs and waist.

The rest of July spent doing rolfing, pool therapy and castor oil packs.

8/6/04 - noticed right ankle was working - around 8/7 discovered Robert was able to cross his ankles  while in wheelchair and in bed.

8/11/04 - in stand up frame 45 minutes straight - no sitting.

8/14/04 - floor exercise

8/18/04 - pool therapy - 4 laps with walker

8/19/04 - rolfing

8/30/04 - noticed more control of legs - rolfing/pt 3 x week

9/7/04 - started working on Pilates machinery

9/14/04 - Pilates 1 hour - seeing strength in arms and starting to see muscles develop in arms.

10/1/04 - Crawled 20' - 1 hour on Pilates - off ALL narcotics

10/15/04 - PT 4 x  week.  Crawled 200' and doing some "girlie" pushups.  1 hour on Pilates

11/2/04 - stood unsupported (at walker) for 40 seconds - took 3 steps.

11/10/04 - stood at walker 90 seconds - 2 x

Mid November - started being able to hold (not grasp - 2 handed) and control electric toothbrush and brushing own teeth

12/6/04 - walked 14' with walker

12/10/04 - walked 20' - w/walker.  started pt 5x week

12/17/04 - walked 40' w/walker

12/27/04 - walked 40' w/walker, rested 2 min, additional 30' w/walker.

Also in December, started doing self transfers to toilet and stair glide. noticing MUCH more control of arms, legs and even a bit better hand control.  ankle control improved (able to point toes).

1/2/05 - used electric razor 1st time.

Upper body strength has improved greatly and muscles are coming in around the knees.   We've seen a lot of muscles pop up over the last 3 months!

I found Dr. McCarty while doing a search for alternative cures for MS. I had been diagnosed in 1996 and have symptoms infrequently since then.

This fall (2005) my right arm and leg were feeling weird and just not working right. I decided to give Central Nervous System Restoration a try as I do not care for the Mainstream "maintenance" drugs that are being prescribed for MS.                         My life started going downhill drastically about 2004.  I was physically down so bad

that we thought I was about to die.  I couldn’t work in my office.  I’d work an hour maybe two

and have to lay down for an hour or more, and then repeat the cycle.

                        My health issue really got our attention when my battery went out in my van.  It took me

all day to change the battery out.  I couldn’t believe it.  I was so exhausted that I just could not

do such a simple task.  I went to my local Veterans Hospital for tests and was diagnosed with

Arnold Chiari.  That is when the cerebellum’s tonsils are protruding into the spinal column.  A

member of our church sent a request for prayer.  Dr. Jim McCarthy responded.  He told the lady

who requested prayer to have me call him.  I called Dr. Jim and he explained that he could    

help me.  He said he could not promise me that I would not have to have the surgery for the A/C, but

he could assure me that I would be in much better shape to have the surgery.  This sounded like

much more hope that I previously had.  So I started going to Colorado to see him once a month. 

            After the first visit, I had made up my mind that I was not going to go back because it just seemed so

out of the ordinary to me.  I came back home from the first visit and I started noticing neurological

changes in my balance and in the way I walked.  I told my wife that since I feel the results in only

one week I MUST go back.  I went back for the next set of treatments.  It seems like with each visit

there were major improvements. My coordination was very off and I would drag my right leg.  My leg

just would not keep up with me.  After treatments I could see my balance and coordination improving.

            I come down from one of the session with Dr. Jim and I felt like I could actually run and I did!  It

was amazing that I had the wind to do so and that my leg would move.  Dr. Jim has been treating me

ever since.  A couple years ago, my wife and I were making plans for my death.  We thought I was

Changed My Life

Before NAET I tried shots and medication, but still suffered with horrible allergies and exhaustion. NAET and Dr. McCarty have changed the way I'm able to live my life. A perfect example was the weekend after my pollen treatment. That weekend I went to San Antonio during July to go canoeing with my cousins. I spent the entire day in the canoe without sneezing! I even brought a tissue pack as usual, with me in anticipation of the day's horrible allergic reactions that I never had. It was as if allergy season ended.

After that I'd see people who looked like they weren't feeling well, ask them if they were sick and they'd tell me that they were suffering from allergies, since it was allergy season. What's amazing is that I've had allergies my whole life and I've been almost completely allergy free, even through allergy season!!!

Hives Gone

Graham came to Dr. McCarty because he had chronic debilitating hives. He had been seeing an allergist for about six months and was taking three different medications daily. Despite the medication and avoidance of a huge variety of foods, the symptoms continued. Graham's feet would swell and he had to stop his participation in high school sports. His throat would swell and his eyes would swell and he couldn't see. Because of these symptoms, Graham missed a lot of school.

Dr. McCarty first treated Graham in late November with CNS Restoration. In December, Graham started allergy treatments. The following March, Graham's symptoms began to subside, and by April the symptoms had cleared enough that Graham was able to discontinue all medications.
