Post Polio Syndrome is not new and there is a solution that helps.
The only problem is that the medical doctors are only using what they have been taught in school and are not up to date on the new research of what is working.
I use a combination of techniques which I call “CNSR®” (Central Nervous System Restoration).
I do NOT do surgery. I am a Chiropractor with over 420 post-graduate hours in the study of Neurology. My focus is on finding and fixing "subluxation complexes" of articulating bones in the human body. I have 31 years of experience in finding and fixing subluxations of the face and head as well as the spine. It is by focusing on and finding and removing these fixated articulating bones of the head, neck, and spine that I am able to restore the proper flow of the cerebro-spinal fluid and blood to the paraspinal muscles. This is of utmost importance to the patient who has post polio syndrome because it is the spinal fluid and micro-circulation that keeps the scar tissue wet and prevents dehydration and contracture of the scar tissue.
Finding and fixing those subluxations is what allows the scar tissue to change and become more flexible even 30 or 40 years after exposure to the polio virus. I repeat, I am NOT treating the virusor an organic problem; I am treating the subluxation complex which consists of two articulating bones along with the muscles, nerves, and fascia that surrounds and is an integral part of the subluxation complex.
The polio virus when you were young crossed the blood-brain barrier and caused inflammation in the brain and spinal cord. Then small cells called “microglia” move in to remove the virus. This leaves behind scar tissue which we also call adhesions.
The location of the original infection, inflammation, and adhesions determine where atrophy occurs and how much atrophy occurs. These adhesions interfere with the proper flow of the spinal fluid. As time passes, the scar tissue begins to contract due to dehydration of the brain and spinal cord. When 20-30-40 years passes; then various portions of the brain and spinal cord begin to shut down like a “dimmer switch” and cause the muscle problems which we term Post Polio Syndrome.
My job, as a Chiropractor, is to find those bones of the body that are not articulating properly and correct them. It is pure and simple Chiropractic. I am working with the Neuro-Muscular-Skeletal System. Correcting malfunctions in this system ALLOWS the Innate nerve impulses to travel unimpeded from the brain to the organs and is responsible for what is termed Homeostsis of the body.
As we get older, our brains naturally lose water and become dehydrated. Injuries to the head cause the brain to dehydrate faster. Bad infections such as POLIO cause scar tissue that speeds up dehydration of the brain and results in shrinking of the brain and causes the symptoms of Post Polio Syndrome.
The first day, I would examine your skull not with x-rays, CAT Scans, and MRIs, but with my hands and also with specific Neurologic Reflex tests (Proprioceptive Reflexes) that are designed to show me how fast your brain is reacting to gravity and how quickly the left side of your brain is talking to the right side of your brain.
The first portion of the examination will reveal how many and which of your six sutures and skull plates are locked up in the wrong position and will give me an estimate of how many series that you need. These tests tell me which areas of YOUR brain are dryer than they should be and are causing pressure to build up inside the spinal fluid and are causing YOUR TMJ.

The six points are:
1. Bridge of your nose where someone's glasses would sit.
2. Under your nose where your two front teeth come together.
3. Top of your head where the soft spot would be on a baby.
4. Back of the head where the second soft spot would be.
5. Behind the left ear where the temporal bone meets the occipital bone.
6. Behind the right ear where the temporal bone meets the occipital bone.

6. Behind the right ear where the temporal bone meets the occipital bone.
The second portion of the examination will test for 78 different treatment patterns that could be unstable. Each unstable treatment pattern requires 1 treatment to correct the unstable pattern. This gives us a better indication of how many individual treatments that will be required in order to correct your problem.
These tests tell me which areas of the brain are dryer than they should be and are causing pressure to build up inside the spinal fluid and are causing Your Symptoms of Post Polio Syndrome.
We should be able to unlock the skull and restore the proper flow of the spinal fluid in twelve months or less.
The exam and therapy involves examining the skull plates to find out which sutures are locked up in the wrong position. This is all done by physical examination of the head. (No costly MRI or Cat Scan or X-rays) Correcting your Muscle Spasms and Flow of the Spinal Fluid would be approximately a 12 month PROCESS...not an overnight cure as I'm sure that you are aware. Each series of treatments lasts four days. Each series of treatments is four days and the treatments are scheduled about 2-4 weeks apart. The first two series can be done "back to back". In other words eight consecutive days of treatments. This will shorten the time to start getting results.
I tell every one that They Will Not Like The Treatment But That They Will Love The Results. After I examine your skull to find out how many of the skull plates are locked up, then we begin treatment. I place a little instrument with a balloon in your nose and put air into it for2 seconds. The air in the balloon will move the bones of the head back into their correct position. Half of the people that I work with say that it feels like they jumped into the pool and got water up their nose (uncomfortable but not a big deal).
The other half say that it feels like very intense pressure for about 2 to 3 seconds. They even hear the cartilage and small bones in the nose move and say that is sounds like an old rusty gate being pried open (very uncomfortable but tolerable because it is only for 2-3 seconds).
Our clinic is in Frisco Texas 25 minutes north of Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas.
The cost of treatment will vary according to the number of skull plates that are locked up. The length of time needed, for Post Polio Syndrome, is (one or two) four day series of treatments for each of the six skull plates that are "locked up". The exam is $250.00 and the first four days of treatment are $1,000.00. Each additional series is $1,000.00.
The average case scenario would be that all six plates are locked and therefore 12 series of treatments would be needed. That would cost a total of approximately $12,250.00 depending on how long it takes for the skull plates to unlock. Our patients pay us for the four day series after the first day of treatment.

The cerebro Spinal Fluid acts like hydraulic fluid and once the locked up skull joints are unlocked then the spinal fluid begins to push the bones and cartilage into their proper position. They tend to stay in the right place unless you receive a new injury.
It is the combination of five techniques that gives our clinic its high success rate (Nimmo, Bowen, Regular Cranial Work, Condyle Lift, and CNS Restoration).
There are no other doctors in the world who are using the combination of techniques that I use. I have found that if I combine five major and three minor different Post Polio Syndrome techniques that I get faster and longer lasting results.
So far I am the only doctor who has specialized in Post Polio Syndrome who is using these EIGHT techniques. They work together very well and the results last.

1. Nimmo Technique-deep muscle work along the spine developed by Dr. Ray Nimmo, a chiropractor, which breaks up lactic acid in the muscles and increases blood flow and oxygen thereby helping the muscles to relax.
2. Bowen (Neuro Structural Integration Technique)-Very light muscle work designed to relax the muscles of the spine, neck, and face even further so that they do not pull the bones back out of place. The Bowen work has its own protocol for helping the Post Polio Syndrome. It was developed by Tom Bowen of Australia who was an osteopathic type of therapist.
3. Cranial Sutural Spread- regular cranial work that feels like I am massaging the scalp where the bones of the skull come together. This promotes the flow of the cerebro spinal fluid in and around the brain.
4. Cranial Lift-very gentle lifting of the head with patient laying face up with light pressure laterally on the underside of the skull to increase blood flow to the brain by relaxing spasms in the "Vertebro/Basilar Artery" which supplies blood to the brain.
5. Reset jaw muscle (Masseter) spindle fibers-very gentle massage of the major jaw muscles that allow you to chew.
6. “CNS Restoration ®” -uses a small instrument that looks like what is used for "angioplasty". It is a blood pressure cuff with a finger cot (small balloon) attached that is placed into the nose (turbinate bones) and inflated with air for about 2 seconds. The balloon then opens the cartilage at the back of the nose and allows you to breathe better. It also "begins the process" of restoring the subtle motion of the skull bones that is supposed to happen when you breathe air in. Recent research, done at my clinic in August 2004, has allowed for FINE TUNING of this “Advanced Skull Work” by checking for 78 treatment patterns. Each of the 78 different patterns that are unstable must be corrected .
7. Atlanto/Occipital Restoration-(Ligament Resetting)-light pressure applied behind the ear (bottom of the skull) and to the upper bone in the neck while rotating your head throughout its range of motion during inspiration and expiration to remove stress off of a VERY IMPORTANT ligament that acts like a guy wire to support the skull.

I have seen the Post Polio Syndrome correct itself many times by the use of Nimmo, Bowen Therapy (Neuro Structural Therapy), Cranial Sutural Spread, Crane Condyle Lift, Atlanto/Occipital Restoration, Masseter Muscle Spindle Restoration and “CNS Restoration®” which each have their own method of correcting the symptoms of Post Polio Syndrome.
The Soft tissue work is just as important as the “CNS Restoration®” in correcting the underlying cause of the Post Polio Syndrome.
The cost of treatment will vary according to the number of skull plates that are locked up and how many of the 78 treatment patterns that show to be “unstable”. The average length of time needed for 8 out of 10 patients is about 24-48 individual treatments or 6-12 series of four day treatments.
We usually have about 6-8 “CNS Restoration ®” patients per week that we work with and we could handle about 10 per week so getting in with about a week or two notice is USUALLY no problem but some weeks are booked more solid than others.
Over half of my patients are from "out of state". They drive or fly into Dallas/Fort Worth Airport.
The patients stay for 4 days and they do one series or two series of treatments (8 treatments) in four days. Each treatment lasts about one hour. I actually work on the patient about 30 minutes.
“CNS Restoration ®” is not a panacea treatment that gets rid of every ache or pain from head to toe; however it does address and normalize muscle strength in the arms and legs as well as get rid of pain in the neck. It also normalizes brain chemistry which controls all hormonal and body functions.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you.
Please see my videos on how I do this as well as video testimonials from my patients.
Please contact me and we'll talk.

Notice: This notice is being included to educate the reader and increase their understanding of Chiropractic. In today’s world, potential Chiropractic patients are doing their homework and becoming as well informed as possible before choosing which type of provider to access for their care. Many potential Chiropractic patients have already visited their primary care provider and are looking for an alternative to the drug and surgery options.
The time has come for each and every one of us to stop being willfully ignorant and step up to a higher level of knowledge and understanding as to the role of Chiropractic medicine that is within the scope of Chiropractic.
Increasing your knowledge and understanding of Chiropractic is essential to avoid being misled and deceived by those health care providers, insurance providers, and government agencies who earn a living off of your fear and ignorance. Today’s educated consumer must do his/her due diligence and raise his/her level of understanding regarding their condition to a higher standard so that they can take responsibility for their health and well being.
I am a Chiropractor. The Scope of Practice includes examination, analyzation, evaluation, adjustment, and manipulation of the Musculo-Skeletal system and the Subluxation Complex in the human body.
The Musculo-skeletal system includes the bones, muscles, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, joints, and other connective tissue {such as the fascia} that supports and binds the tissues and organs together.
A subluxation complex is a neuro-musculo-skeletal condition that involves an aberrant relationship between two adjacent bones. This aberrant relationship consists of some form of compression and rotation between the two adjacent bones which may cause muscle spasms, structural pathology, functional pathology, or other abnormality of the system affecting balance, coordination, or muscle strength. It does this through the muscles, bones, nerves, and fascia.
The role of the Chiropractor includes determining the existence of, the nature of, the severity of, the effects of, and complicating factors that affect this musculo-skeletal system/subluxation complex. This includes determining the existence of structural pathology, functional pathology, and/or other abnormality of the system followed up by the treatment of those conditions.
The role of the Doctor of Chiropractic includes the manipulation and adjustment of those two adjacent bones which are either too close to each other or too far from each other, or rotated in their relationship to each other. These subluxation complexes may cause functional pathology. The goal is to improve, correct, and optimize the biomechanical condition of the musculo-skeletal system/subluxation complex. This in turn improves, corrects, and optimizes the structure, function, and other abnormalities. This, thereby, of necessity, reduces muscle spasms and improves the coordination, balance, efficiency, strength, conditioning, and functional health and integrity of the system.

My intention is to help heal as many Post Polio patients as I can. Although I have had remarkable success using “Central Nervous System Restoration®” to treat very difficult cases, I am not allowed to make guarantees. Each patient is unique and each situation is different. If you continue to treat Post Polio Syndrome with the traditional approach; then you will get traditional high failure rates. My approach is quite different and effective.
